Over the centuries the mysterious and sublime beauty of Palma’s old town has been heir to the Roman, Arab and Christian civilisations, among others. A rich cultural legacy now represented to perfection by a series of first-class boutique hotels which preserve all of the charm of our Mediterranean city.
A tour of these establishments begins just a few metres from Rialto Living. The hotel Can Cera is a small 17th-century palace that has been turned into a gorgeous, sophisticated space, with period furniture and artworks both avant-garde and by local artists like Jaume Roig or Adriana Meunie.
Not very far from here stands another of the city’s jewels: Hotel Sant Francesc, a neoclassical palatial house constructed in 1860 with a delightful inner courtyard. Its elegant, modern spaces contrast with the elements from bygone eras, and are decorated with an extensive collection of works by artists such as Guillem Nadal and Miguel Ángel Campano. They also have an interesting selection of pieces by renowned designers like Antonio Citterio or Jaime Hayón, among others.
From the terrace and guest rooms of the hotel Es Príncep one can contemplate a splendid panoramic view of the bay of Palma and the old city wall, which protected the city from pirate incursions centuries ago. This establishment also has the draw of the restaurant Zaranda, which boasts a Michelin star.
In the legendary Plaza de Cort, the site of the city hall, we find two exquisitely-designed establishments. Hotel Cappuccino, with its suites decorated by Jacques Grange, and Hotel Cort, a hop and a skip away from the city’s most exclusive shops and restaurants, as well as from other attractions like Palma Cathedral and the Almudaina Palace.
The Convent of La Missió, which houses the Michelin-star restaurant of chef Marc Fosh; the hotel Summum, set in a 15th-century palace, warm and inviting; Can Bordoy, where past and present merge in the centre of its magical garden; or Can Alomar, decorated with sumptuous fabrics, mirrors and over 40 works of art, are just a representative sample of some of the boutique hotels that enable us to feel Palma’s beautiful mystique.
And all of these beautiful boutique hotels are very close to Rialto Living! Your lifestyle store with the most singular fashion, furniture, gifts, artworks, rugs, fragrances and books in the city.
