Son Bunyola, a jewel in Tramuntana

22/10/2023

Son Bunyola, Sir Richard Branson’s hotel on the coast of Banyalbufar that was inaugurated in June, is one of the most beautiful and inspiring places of Mallorca.

With all the passion and delicacy required for the restoration and renovation of this unique place that is more than five centuries old, Rialto Living has been in charge of the interior design project, in coordination with the architecture studio GRAS Reynés Arquitectos. The gardens and outdoor areas with trees and plants are the work of Jardins de Tramuntana.

More than just decorating a hotel, our desire was to create spaces where visitors experience the sensation of being in a private home, in Sir Richard Branson's house.

The fabrics designed by Klas played an essential role in this, thanks to the warmth of their tones and the subtlety of the patterns, in harmony with the building and the surroundings of Son Bunyola.

Each room and each space in the hotel has its own design and personality, enriching the beauty of the architectural ensemble and the outdoor areas.

As for the hotel's artwork, we have been responsible for the selection and have worked with mostly local artists, such as Luis Maraver, Joan Bennàssar, Damián Ramis, Menéndez Rojas, Estefanía Pomar, Francesc Roca, Ángeles Cereceda and Dolors Comas, among many others.

The Son Bunyola estate covers over 500 hectares in the Serra de Tramuntana mountains, a UNESCO World Heritage Site. The estate, which dates back to the 16th century, has been transformed into a new luxury hotel with 26 rooms, comprised of the main building and the Tafona, containing the historic oil press.

It also has three villas, Sa Punta de S'Aguila, Sa Terra Rotja and Son Balagueret, surrounded by vineyards, citrus trees and olive groves with beautiful views of the mountains and the sea.

The hotel offers spa treatments and has a heated outdoor pool and jacuzzi with views of the countryside and Sa Foradada.

At mealtimes Son Bunyola’s chef, Samuel, offers farm-to-table cuisine, and many of the products served in the two restaurants are grown in the estate’s own orchards and gardens, paired with wines from all over the world selected by the sommelier.

In Rialto Living you can find some of the furniture, fabrics, lamps, rugs, garden furniture and accessories that we used to create the interior design of Son Bunyola.

We’ll be delighted to show them to you!
